Keep Your Teeth Healthy And Happy This 4th Of July

Published on June 21st, 2017

With 4th of July celebrations just around the corner, the backyard barbecues and family potlucks will soon be in full swing. The red, white and blue cupcakes are bound to make an appearance, along with the white chocolate-covered strawberries and festive sugary drinks. But what if you could still enjoy the Independence day eats while helping your smile in the process? Colgate has come up with a list of healthy yet tasty snacks that are 100% teeth friendly, so keep an eye out for these alternatives at your upcoming celebration.

Low-fat Yogurt with Berries – Vanilla yogurt sprinkled with blueberries and raspberries…you can’t get much more festive than that.

Strawberries, Apples, and Watermelon –

These red fruits will fit right in with the other patriotic snacks.

Hummus and Pita Chips – Skip the chips and salsa and try this similar snack instead.

Veggies and Dip – They aren’t red white and blue, but they sure are tasty and refreshing.

Low-fat or Non-fat Cheese and Crackers – Every good potluck or picnic has a cheese platter.

Celery Sticks with Cream Cheese and Sunflower Seeds – A new, teeth-healthy version of ants on a log…a delicious snack on a hot summer day.

Leafy Greens – Someone always brings a salad to balance out the sugary treats. These greens are high in calcium and help to build your tooth enamel.

Water – While this may seem boring for a holiday celebration, water is always the better choice over soda, juice, or alcohol. Try a new sparkling water flavor to give a little punch to this otherwise bland drink while still making a healthy choice for our teeth.

When it comes to your teeth, you are what you eat. The more sugar and unhealthy foods you consume, the more likely your teeth are to decay. Make smart food choices at your upcoming 4th of July celebration so you can continue to show off your beautiful smile.
