Dental Crowns Lakeview, Chicago, IL

In situations where an individual’s teeth are damaged beyond repair, a form of porcelain crowns can be used to restore the look of your smile.

Crowns are often extremely reliable, repairing even the most severe dental problems. In some cases, they can even be used to completely replace missing teeth, giving individuals back their function and aesthetics. At Chicago Family Dental Care, we are known for our quality workmanship and the changes we have completed for many of our patients. Crowns are designed to last longer and provide a long-term solution to many major dental problems. When cared for properly, they can last between 20 and 30 years.

Length of Treatment

You will likely need to make two appointments to fit dental crowns in place. First, our dental staff must remove any decay, reshape the tooth and then place a temporary crown until the permanent one can be crafted.

At the second appointment, you will be fitted for the final crown, removing the temporary one and making any necessary adjustments. Once finished, we will cement that crown to your existing structure, so it looks and acts just like your natural teeth.

If we use Cerec crowns, only one visit will be required. Our dental staff will help you decide which type of crown will work best in your situation.

Reasons You May Need Crowns

Crowns and bridgework are often used to correct major dental issues, which may have been caused by disease, normal wear, and tear or accidents. Many of these significant issues can be corrected with crowns made from high-grade porcelain bonded with gold or porcelain alone. It is necessary to use the highest strength materials to ensure longevity when serious issues are corrected. When there is accidental damage, such as lost or broken teeth, including those caused by broken or lost fillings, porcelain crowns and bridges may sometimes be used to correct appearance and function. These tools can also be used to fix the results of grinding or after a patient undergoes a root canal, which can leave the tooth weakened.
