Celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month!

Published on October 12th, 2017

October is National Dental Hygiene Month – a time to raise awareness of the importance of practicing good oral health and to celebrate the work that dentists and dental hygienists do daily to keep our mouths healthy. No one is immune to dental issues so it’s important, no matter your age, to maintain a good home dental routine and schedule regular checkups. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month and keep your teeth healthy, here are a few things you can do:

Out With The Old, In With The New

Get rid of your old over-used toothbrush and start fresh! Using the same toothbrush for an extended amount of time decreases its effectiveness and won’t clean your teeth as much as it could. Dentists recommended replacing your toothbrush every three months with a soft-bristle brush.

Schedule Your Next Cleaning

It never too early or too late to schedule your next dental checkup and cleaning. Regular cleanings 1-2 times per year can improve your oral health immensely by reducing the risk of tooth decay, preventing cavities, fighting gum disease, removing teeth stains and brightening your smile, and freshening your breath.

Get Back In The Habit of Flossing

Flossing may seem tedious to a lot of people, but it is essential to your overall oral health. Make flossing a fun part of your clean mouth routine by trying out different flavors, types and brands of floss to find one that you like best!
